THE BEGINNING
Eucalypt OT was founded in 2023 by Holly Gawthorne (originally trading as Holly the OT). Holly grew up in Western Sydney and studied a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Western Sydney University. Holly had an early love for travel, so used that as an excuse to complete rural placements any chance she could!

WORKING IN THE OUTBACK
Once graduated, Holly spent time living and working in the remote Outback town of Lightning Ridge (made famous from the wonderful Outback Opal Hunters show!). This was an incredibly unique opportunity, where she was the only OT for upwards of 300kms! This experience solidified the importance of consistent, reliable health care for rural communities.

THE BUSINESS WAS BORN
Holly started her business, after personal circumstances found her living in Perth, but her passion for rural health kept pulling her out of the city. With an outreach based model that visited Kalbarri, Geraldton and Gingin, Holly found solace in being able to combine her love of rural health and travel on a weekly basis

TIME TO EXPAND
As the trips continued, the waitlist kept growing. The need for consistent services in rural WA was evident so the time came to expand the team! And here we are. A small but mighty team with one shared passion - rural health.
